I was brought to this hotel by the films of Fatih Akin. And it completely met my expectations. I would highlight the terrace with a view of the Bosphorus Strait, making it unnecessary to wander the surrounding streets in search of cafes. There is also friendly staff and the hotel owner, a charming man with above-average knowledge of English for Turkish standards. It's true that the hotel doesn't have everything to meet the maximalist expectations of today's tourists, but it has that elusive and inexplicable something that affects us subconsciously, like our favorite movies that we watch for the hundredth time. P.S. Don't be spoiled when it comes to breakfast. There is plenty of what is offered, enough to set off with a full stomach to explore this complex and magical city.

The breakfast was very good. Excellent coffee. Open for long hours (07.00-10.30). The staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. Very good cleaning staff, excellent, friendly and helpful management. The style of the hotel (1892) was great and all the staff pulled together. The location is superb, right in the centre near many excellent, reasonably priced eateries. The staff would always get taxis for you when required. Great that there were no tour groups in this hotel! All individual travellers.

The location and value are unbeatable. As a history buff, I love the building and the area, despite the fact that the glory is somewhat faded. This Pera neighborhood was where Europeans, like Agatha Christie stayed, and there is a lingering romance to the old buildings. This hotel was also featured in the movie Crossing the Bridge: Sounds of Istanbul. The ceilings are high, the terrace bar is absolutely fantastic, and the staff is wonderful.

Büyük Londra Oteli (Grand Hotel des Londres) is a truly remarkable place. It has no equal--you will understand immediately upon entering the foyer, and witnessing the exceptional decor, a collection of baroque early 20th Century relics. It's not so much a hotel as an experience, and if this experience is one you might enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

Jeremy

This place is perfekt for the exploring traveler : super nice staff, art deco interior of the good old days and everything was clean. Yes the breakfast is typically Turkish and better than expected ( ask for the Omelett) , the shower needs sometimes a little more time, but what you get is a central Location with lovely rooms and dedicated staff!
